Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data PieWing collects when you use PieWing, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. Who is responsible for your data

PieWing (“we”, “us”) decides how your personal data is used on PieWing. Under the law, that makes us the data fiduciary. Questions about your data go to our grievance officer (section 12).

2. What we collect

• When you sign up: your full name, email address, mobile number and password, the package you choose, and the promo code you join with. The promo code links your account to the member who invited you, or to our own account if you joined with our code.
• When you pay: what you bought, the amount, the date and the payment reference from our payment partner,Dodo Payments. You enter your card, UPI, net banking or wallet details on Dodo Payments's secure page. They never reach us.
• In your profile: a profile photo if you add one, and the details needed to pay you: UPI ID, account holder name, bank name, account number, IFSC and PAN. We need your PAN because the law requires tax (TDS) to be deducted from commissions and reported against it.
• While you use the site: the ebooks you can read, your referral link and team, the commissions you earn, and your withdrawal requests with their bank references.
• When you contact us: your name, email, phone number if you give it, and your message.
• Technical data: your IP address and browser details, used to keep the site secure (for example, to slow down repeated login attempts) and recorded in our hosting provider's server logs.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not buy data about you from anyone.

3. Why we use it

• To create and run your account, log you in and reset your password.
• To take payments, open your ebooks and send you receipts.
• To run the affiliate program: link you to the member who invited you, work out commissions, show your team and pay your withdrawals.
• To meet our legal duties, such as deducting and reporting TDS, keeping tax and accounting records, and answering lawful requests from authorities.
• To keep PieWing safe: preventing fraud, fake or duplicate accounts and misuse, and enforcing our terms.
• To answer your questions and complaints.

We use your data only for these purposes. The only emails we send are about your account: password reset links and payment receipts. We never sell or rent your personal data.

4. Who can see your data

• Members above you in the referral chain (up to 3 levels) see your name, the date you joined, who invited you and how many purchases you have made. They do not see your email, mobile number, payout details or how much you paid.
• Our team sees account, order and payout details to run the business, pay you and help you.
• Service providers who handle data only on our instructions: Dodo Payments (payments), Supabase (our database, hosted in Mumbai), Vercel (website hosting) and our email delivery service (account emails).
• Authorities, when the law requires it: for example, PAN and commission amounts in TDS returns to the Income Tax Department, or information demanded by a court or the police.
• A new owner, if the business is ever sold or merged. Your data would stay protected by this policy.

5. Where your data is stored

Our database is in India (Mumbai). Some service providers, such as email delivery, may process data outside India. When that happens, it follows Indian law on transferring personal data.

6. How long we keep it

• Account and profile details: for as long as your account is open.
• Orders, commissions, withdrawals and PAN: for as long as tax and accounting laws require (usually up to 8 years), even after the account is closed.
• Messages sent through the Contact page: for as long as we need them to deal with your question and any follow-up.
• Backup copies of the database are replaced on a rolling basis, so deleted data disappears from them over time.

When you close your account, we delete your profile, photo and payout details, and keep only the records the law requires.

7. Cookies

We use two cookies, both needed for the site to work:

• pw_session keeps you logged in, for 30 days or until you log out.
• ref remembers the promo code from an invitation link for 30 days, so the right member is credited when you sign up.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Dodo Payments's payment page may set its own cookies when you use it.

8. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:

• Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it and who we have shared it with.
• Correct or update your data. Most of it you can change yourself under Profile.
• Ask us to delete your data, except records the law requires us to keep.
• Withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn't affect anything done before. Without it we can't keep your account open or pay commissions.
• Nominate someone to use these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
• Complain to our grievance officer. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

To use any of these rights, write to our grievance officer from the email address on your account (section 12). We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

9. Security

The site runs over an encrypted (https) connection. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash, so nobody at PieWing can read them. Payment details never reach our servers, and only people who need access to do their work have it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

10. Age limit

PieWing is only for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that we have, we delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update it here with a new date. If a change affects how we use the data you have already given us, we will tell you by email or on the site first.

12. Contact and grievance officer

You can also write to us through the Contact page or at support@piewing.com. We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month.
